Ruel Foundation Children's Home
With the poverty level getting worse in the Philippines we are now seeing a greater number of children being brought to our “children’s crisis centre” in serious physical and emotional distress. Many small children have been cared for by an older brother or sister. Many are simply abandoned and left to die.
Local authorities work hard to address these problems but are seriously under funded and under staffed. The Ruel Foundation works closely with these authorities to help rescue children that are close to death from starvation or abuse. In many cases we just provide milk powder to assist a family in getting a child’s weight up, however, in some cases this is not enough. The Department of Social Welfare usually asks us to accept the child into our Ruel House until the child is strong enough to return to their family or be placed for adoption.
We work hard to provide comfort, dignity and spiritual strength to both the child and immediate family as they walk through the process of helping some seriously sick children. Families share their deep gratitude for giving their child a chance when no one else would. In most cases the children recover and become beautiful examples of God’s amazing grace and compassion.
Below are a couple of before and after examples of the children in our Children’s Home. If you would like to donate to this wonderful program please click on our donation button.

Ruel, our namesake, was found suffering from malnutrition in a hospital due to a cleft lip with cleft palate. He was unable to suckle properly or ingest food to satisfy his growing body. His mother could not afford the surgery to rectify this ailment, or the nutrients necessary to provide her child with an adequate diet. Thanks to the simple surgery to rectify this problem Ruel is now a happy and healthy little boy.
