Gilbert has a Mum, Dad and twin sisters!
26 February 2010
I remember so clearly the day Gilbert arrived, he was so thin, pale and afraid. His dad had had a stroke so could no longer provide him with food. He then died so Gilbert's mother decided to place him for adoption. It must have been such a hard decision for her, her husband had died and she had three other children. He gradually recovered from his malnourished state and pneumonia. He grew into a charming little boy who loved to be cuddled. I often thought of what sort of family he would fit into. Finally the day came for me to find out about his parents. As soon as I read their file I knew I had found the perfect parents for him! The day his new Dad came to pick him up was so moving, this dear man just burst into tears and kept saying "My son, my son" and "You are so beautiful I love you" Three days later they left to go to Sweden, already bonded. It was such a joy to see this miserable scared little boy going to a home where he will be so loved! Gilbert"s ( Now Emmanuel) new family home.

Ruel, our namesake, was found suffering from malnutrition in a hospital due to a cleft lip with cleft palate. He was unable to suckle properly or ingest food to satisfy his growing body. His mother could not afford the surgery to rectify this ailment, or the nutrients necessary to provide her child with an adequate diet. Thanks to the simple surgery to rectify this problem Ruel is now a happy and healthy little boy.
